Post manistee july 25
well, headed over sat night, stayed the night at insta launch and headed out in the morning. lake was a bit bumpy leaving the harbor, seemed like 2-3 fters, ran out to 220 fow and set lines on a south troll. we had a fire drill for like 45-60 minutes, couldn't keep lines in the water, couldn't keep the fish on the line either, lol. boxed 3 in a hurry and things started to slow down. we continued to pickup a fish here and there as the waves kept building. before i knew it we were in solide 4-6 fter's.
we trolled down to the 10's, picked up lines and motored north and slid out to the 300 ft range to prepare for the midday setup. ran stuff high and low but really had a tough time boxing fish. tried in shallow as the lake settled down and the winds switched things up.
kept changing lures depths speeds ect to figure it out. finally put a 10" paddle on the rigger and a small orange measles dodger spoon off the other rigger and started picking up fish 120-130 down. worked our way north into 175 fow and continued picking away at the fish. as we neared the 14 line we had a screamer on, was taking half the spool in a hurry! so i decided to bump the drag up a hair. got the fish to stop and it gave another good tug before saying bubye. lost it.

ended the day around 9/18 all kings, most 6-7 lb fish a few were around 9-10, much smaller fish than last week.

orange measles ended up being the hot spoon for the afternoon bite, once we switched to orange things started popping. morning bite we hit fish on the following
chrome dodger/ gun smoke dodger spoon off the rigger 80 down
clean blue slurpie off the other rigger 90 down
wire dipsy back 275 with an 8" rotator white with blue tape and a meat rig
wire dipsy back 275 with a 11" white rotator and a white measles dodger spoon

late in the day the hot setups were the
chrome based paddle off the rigger 110 down with a dodger spoon
clean orange measles 2 3/4" spoon off the rigger 125 down
wire dipsy out 425 with a chrome dodger and a orange measles dodger spoon
high divers out 350 running a clean standard sized orange measles

had few hits on meat rigs through the day but meat wasn't producing for us, spoons behind dodgers or rotators was doing better this week.
