Went to Lake Ann to visit and scout with Stephen (Ketchemall) on Wednesday. Seen some beautiful country, told a few lies and found some very promising bear sign. One of the tracks we found measured 5 1/2 inches across the front paw. Now just got to line up some bait and start baiting after August 10th. Thanks Stephen for the tour !

Me and my buddy checked our cameras yesterday and with 3 cameras we caught 177 videos. Of those 177, 19 were of bear. Others were deer and hare. We baited last tuesday morning.
All of the 4 bait stations we set had been hit. One didn't have a camera. One camera only had 1 bear video and it was at night. Another had 2 daytime bear videos of the same bear and it was a good one. The third camera had the other 16 bear videos with probably 4 different bears. A couple of good ones. We moved some cameras and shut down one bait station and then set up 2 more bait stations. We set a ladder stand near the station that had the 4 different bears. I think that spot should stay good as long as the hound hunters aren't training their dogs through there over the next couple of weeks. This coming weekend we will have a good idea of what to do. 2 more weeks and we will eliminate all but 2 bait stations. Starting Sept 4, we will be baiting those last 2 spots every morning with just a couple of gallons of goodies each.

Dragging the boat up and will spend most afternoons fishing and passing time in God's country 'til the Sept 10 opener.

I hope it cools down by then. I sweat my balls off scouting and baiting this last week. My clothes were soaked and must have weighed 40 lbs by noon each day.......... but the mosquitos were helping me forget how fucking warm it was.............. those bastards.

I find best way to pattern bear is by investagate the bear scat. A little taste will tell you everything you need to know

Well if its scat taste like dog food soaked in peach syrup, peach pie filling and maple icing, you might just pattern that bear back to my bait station.

If it taste like steak, sweet corn and beer you might be patterning me.

Two of my baits are getting hit in Baldwin. One of the sites had a track the size of my hand in the mud. Head back up Thursday to re bait.
